Radius Event Monitor

Radius Event Monitor is an additional VAS Experts DPI component that sends information to DPI system on the assigned and released IP addresses to subscribers in networks with their dynamic logging. The component supports control over the DPI-servers cluster and is designed for processing traffic data of up to 100 million subscribers.

  • Radius Event Monitor notifies the DPI whether the IP-address matches the subscriber login from Radius-server.
  • No special resources required, runs on a general purpose computer.
  • Supports different network connection methods: end-to-end, mirror, emulation.
  • Easily installed and managed by standard CentOS tools.

Features

No high-performance hardware platform required

Radius Event Monitor requires only a dual-core processor, Intel 82575/82576/82580/82599 or x540 chipset-based network card, and a network card built into the system board to control according to SSH. Software is installed on OS CentOS 6.5 (CentOS x86_64) or above.

Designed for high load

Currently, the component is successfully used in the Rostelecom network with more than 100 million subscribers.

Supports 3 options for connecting to operator network

  • End-to-end traffic transfer to Raduis-server (Monitor is connected to the network between access equipment and Radius-server).
  • Interception of mirrored traffic (mirrored traffic of Radius-server communication is transferred to Monitor).
  • Emulation of backup Radius-server.

Development and new functions

A new function is being developed: transfer of information on policing services and settings through additional Radius attributes. This function will be included in a new Monitor version.
